There’s no one way into construction and that’s the point

There is no single pathway into construction, and that’s one of the most exciting things about this industry.

You might have come in through:

  • An apprenticeship straight from school
  • A university degree in engineering or design
  • A bootcamp or returner programme after a career break
  • Or by saying yes to an opportunity that looked nothing like what you expected

With demand for skilled workers rising across East Anglia, career entry routes are evolving fast, and we need to make sure they’re open, visible, and welcoming to everyone, especially women.

But even now, too many still say, “I didn’t know this was even an option for me.”

So why don’t we start to bridge the gap:

  • How did you get your start?
  • What do you wish you’d known at the time?
  • What advice would you give to a woman thinking of stepping into construction now?

WiCA is here to show the next generation that they can build a future in construction, whatever route they take.
